Filtration for System Flushing and Commissioning

Short answer

Flush a new chilled water, condenser water or TCS loop in stages to remove construction debris, from 50–100 µm down to a 5 µm final, changing filters at about 10 psi differential pressure (OCP pre-commissioning guideline). Your engineer's commissioning spec and the equipment maker's requirements set the final micron and acceptance criteria. FilterBridge Supply quotes staged flush cartridges and bags by the case within one business day.

Why flush filtration matters

New piping carries weld slag, scale, cutting oil and installation debris. Filtering during the flush keeps it out of heat exchangers, pumps and fine equipment filters. On liquid-cooled data center projects, the cleanliness required before the CDU is connected comes from the CDU and cold-plate makers.

A typical staged approach

  1. Coarse stage: strainers or coarse elements to catch heavy debris early.
  2. Intermediate stage: cartridges around 25–50 µm.
  3. Final polish: 5–10 µm cartridges, or finer if specified, until the water meets the acceptance criteria.

Change filters at the specified differential pressure. Volumes can be large, so plan quantities before mobilizing.

Planning quantities

Tell us the system volume, flush flow rate, housing type and size, micron stages and schedule. We'll quote case quantities to match. See buying filters by the case.

Liquid-cooling loops

For TCS / CDU secondary loops, use only flush filtration your CDU or cold-plate maker allows, including rating basis and compatibility with your fluid. Send us that spec and we'll quote to it.

Questions and answers

What micron is used for flushing?

Published ranges are about 5–50 µm for cartridges or bags (Fil-Trek). The commissioning spec governs.

Cartridges or bags for a flush?

Cartridges suit the finer polish stages and are what most data center projects specify. Bags can take heavier early debris loads in a coarse stage.

Can you supply a whole project's flush filters?

Yes. Send quantities and schedule through the quote request form or call us. We quote within one business day.

Do you supply flush carts or rental equipment?

No. We supply the filter consumables and standard housings.

What do you need for the quote?

Housing model or cartridge size, micron stages, flow rate, fluid, quantities and delivery dates. See the filtration RFQ checklist.
