Short answer
For chilled water and TCS flushes, OCP's pre-commissioning guideline stages filtration from 50–100 µm down to a 5 µm final, changing filters at about 10 psi differential pressure. We quote staged cartridges, bags and housings in commissioning volumes within one business day.
The problem
Commissioning schedules don't wait. A flush can burn through far more media than planned, and running out between stages stalls sign-off.
What OCP's guideline says
| Item | OCP guidance |
|---|---|
| First stage | 50 to 100 µm |
| Final stage | 5 µm recommended (industry range 1–25 µm) |
| Capture efficiency starting point | About 98.7% (Beta 75) |
| Filter change | About 10 psi differential pressure |
| Skid filter | Should accept media from 100 µm down to 1 µm |
| Sign-off | Turbidity under 5 NTU; conductivity within 10–20 µS/cm of procedure water or 60 µS/cm max |
Your commissioning spec and the equipment makers' requirements govern.
A typical staged kit (example)
If your skid takes a 7¾-inch jumbo element:
| Stage | Micron | Suggested media |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Initial recirculation | 100 → 50 µm | HSC high-flow cartridges (100 and 50 µm) |
| 2. Intermediate | 20 → 10 µm | HSC high-flow or standard 20" cartridges |
| 3. Final polish | 5 µm (or your spec, 1–25 µm) | HSC 5 µm or standard 5 µm cartridges |
If your spec calls for a Beta 75 or absolute rating at a given micron, tell us and we'll quote only media documented that way, or say we can't.
HSC series pleated jumbo cartridges
The HSC-170 is 7 3/4" × 30 3/4" with 170 sq ft of media, 105 gpm recommended and 150 gpm max. Standard pleated polyester versions come in 0.35, 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 150 micron (140°F max); all-polypropylene versions are absolute rated at 0.2, 0.35, 0.45 and 1 micron (176°F max). If your skid takes a 7¾-inch jumbo element, one cartridge family covers every stage, so a stage change is a cartridge swap. Send your skid's housing model and we'll check it against published specs before quoting.

Questions and answers
What micron should a TCS flush finish at?
OCP's guideline recommends a 5 µm final rating, starting at 50–100 µm. Industry finals range 1–25 µm, so follow your commissioning spec.
When do I change flush filters?
OCP's guideline says at about 10 psi differential pressure.
How many cartridges will I need for a chilled water flush?
It depends on debris load, flow and stages. Send system volume, flow and stages and we'll quote case quantities with a buffer.
Do you rent flush skids?
No. We supply filter cartridges, bags on request and standard housings.
Are your filter bags OK with glycol systems?
The manufacturer of our polypropylene filter bags confirms they are compatible with glycol. That applies to the poly bags only. For cartridges, send the fluid and temperature so we quote media and seals the manufacturer documents for that service.
Can you supply staged bags and cartridges in bulk?
We quote 100 through 5 µm bags, cartridges and housings by the case. Call (657) 500-0938 or email sales@filterbridgesupply.com.
How fast do you quote?
Quotes within one business day. Call (657) 500-0938 or email sales@filterbridgesupply.com.
