HOW IT WORKS
We don't guess
at compatibility.
Part-number similarity and matching dimensions are not enough. We only offer you a replacement after the specification and fit checks behind it are complete.

- 02Compare

- 04Verified replacement
WHY THIS MATTERS
Same nominal size.
Different part.
The aftermarket filter business runs on a quiet assumption: that if two cartridges are the same nominal size, one replaces the other. It is true often enough to build a catalog on, and wrong often enough to cost a service company a return trip.
A 4.5″ × 20″ cartridge from one manufacturer and a 4.5″ × 20″ cartridge from another can differ by enough that one seals in a given housing and the other bypasses. None of that is visible in a size listing.
WHAT A SIZE LISTING TELLS YOU
- End-cap style
- NOT LISTED
- Gasket seat
- NOT LISTED
- Core diameter
- NOT LISTED
- Actual overall length
- NOMINAL ONLY
- Fit and sealing behaviour
- DECIDED BY THE FOUR ABOVE
So we don't work from the listing. We work through the four stages below, and only a part that clears all four is offered to you as a replacement.
VERIFICATION
How a replacement
gets verified.
Four stages. Only the last one is ever offered to you as a replacement — everything before it is work we do before you hear from us.
- RESEARCH STAGE
Identify
We find a possible match. Nothing has been checked yet.
A cartridge shares a nominal size with the part you buy, or a manufacturer or third-party listing says the two cross-reference. That is somewhere to start, not an answer — a cross-reference published by a company with product to sell is a commercial claim, not a measurement. Nothing at this stage is offered to you as a replacement.
- UNDER REVIEW
Compare
Published specifications are compared field by field against the part you use.
Diameter, length, end-cap style, gasket configuration, micron rating and media are compared against the manufacturer's published data for both parts. Where a specification is not published, we record it as unknown rather than assume it from a similar product. A part can fail here for a reason that never shows up in a size listing.
- IN VERIFICATION
Verify
Fit is confirmed with our supplier before you order.
Nominal dimensions do not settle fit. End caps, o-ring seats, core diameters and overall length tolerances decide whether a cartridge seals in a specific housing, and those differences are frequently invisible in a spec table. So we check your part number against the manufacturer's published specs and confirm fit with our supplier before you order.
- OFFERED TO CUSTOMERS
Verified replacement
Only now is it offered to you as a replacement.
Nothing is presented as a replacement until we have checked it against the manufacturer's published specs and confirmed fit with our supplier. Anything that has not cleared those checks stays off the site, and we would rather tell you we don't have a verified replacement for your part than sell you one that doesn't fit.
WHAT THIS COSTS YOU
A shorter list,
and a reliable one.
The honest trade-off of this approach is that our list of verified replacements is shorter than a competitor's. That is the point. We list fewer replacements because we do not list substitutes we have not verified.
Where we have nothing verified for your part, you get told that rather than sold a maybe.
BUYER QUESTIONS
The four we
get asked.
Why don't you list a replacement for everything?
Because we haven't verified everything. A catalog that claims a replacement for every part number in the industry has not checked them all — it has inferred them from size tables. We would rather have a short list you can trust than a long one you have to spot-check.
What if there's no verified replacement for my part?
We'll say so. Depending on the part we may be able to confirm one with our supplier, or tell you the format is proprietary and no standard cartridge will fit. Both answers are more useful than a maybe.
Do you share the research behind a verified replacement?
Not the working file — what we find is our own commercial research. What you get is the conclusion and the fact that it cleared our checks (published specs, and fit confirmed with our supplier), and you are welcome to ask what was checked.
What about certifications?
We reproduce the manufacturer's wording with its scope attached. Where a product is certified for material requirements only, we say that — we don't shorten it to “certified”, because those are different claims.
