What to check before you order

This page does not say this cartridge works in any particular housing or swaps for any other brand's part. Compare these first:

  1. Housing size. This part is 2.5" x 40". Make sure your housing takes 2.5"-diameter cartridges, not 4.5".
  2. End style. Not listed for this part. Tell us if your housing needs a spring seat, fin end or gasket.
  3. Micron rating and type. 5 micron, and the data sheet doesn't say nominal or absolute.
  4. Depth vs string-wound vs pleated. The same 2.5" x 40" size comes in different media. See SWC-25-4005 (string-wound) and SPC-25-4005 (pleated), and our spec comparison guide.
  5. Certification. If your spec requires NSF/ANSI 61 or 42, put it in your request.

Where it's used

The manufacturer says the 2.5" SDC cartridge is widely used for pre-filtration ahead of RO systems and for post-filtration after GAC (granular activated carbon) filters. It's also used in ice machines, beverage and coffee, analytical, film processing and wineries. The listed applications include pre-filters for DI and RO systems, low-viscosity chemical pre-filtration, and manufacturing and water recycling. (Source: SDC data sheet.) FAQ

What does "sediment depth" mean?
The cartridge traps particles through its thickness, not only on the surface. The manufacturer describes the SDC structure as graded density.
What size is SDC-25-4005?
2.5" diameter x 40" long.
How many per case?
20.
Is it NSF certified?
Tell us which standard your specification requires. We check certification against the manufacturer's listing for the exact part number, and we don't assume it from the product series.
When should it be changed?
The manufacturer recommends replacement at a pressure drop of 21.75 psi (1.5 kg/cm²). Follow your site's procedure first.
Can I send another brand's part number instead?
Yes. Send us the part number and we'll tell you what we can supply against it.
